akam1k3 presents: "StianSicky's OLD vs NEW" #1

Hello dudes and dudettes. I want to introduce to you a new little segment here on akam1k3.com. As you might have noticed, I'm surrounded by an active hiphop community here in Norway. Both new schoolers and leaders of the old school. One of my homies, StianSicky, a writer for Kingsize.no approached me and wanted to try and see what he could cook up for my site. He came up with an idea he likes to call OLD vs NEW. Here he will compare an old school jam with a remake from one of the newer cats in the game. He will share his thoughts and invite you to share yours. So here we go...enjoy!

OLD vs NEW #1:
So for my first run, I choose one of my favourite mc's and producers of all time, the leader of the D.I.T.C. Crew(Lord Finesse). If you didn't know, he was the one who put peeps like Big L, Fat Joe and Diamond D on. He is also famous for his battle with Percee P. I decided to put this giant up versus a kid from the suburbs of Pittsburgh, the rising star Mac Miller who recently teared down BlÄ in Oslo and who is relevant with his upcoming debutalbum ''Blueslide Park''.

Conclusion:
It's hard to be fairminded, because I think Lord Finesse is one of the most important characters in hip-hop period. But I got to say, when I first heard the Mac Miller remake, I got somehow impressed by his flow and honesty. He is not pretending to be something he's not, just talkin' about dreams and things that has happend in his life and what he hope to achieve. But, on this one he's gettin' outclassed by the L.O.R.D. The metaphors, the content and the usage of words is on another level. Lord Finesse's usage of the voice fits the track much better aswell. The video is perhaps the most ''bragging/mainstream'' video he has ever done, but who cares, nearly every rapper got to have that. You also got to have in mind that Finesse did the beat. ''Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza'' is a promo track for Mac's K.I.D.S. mixtape, and with all the splurge being given to Finesse, you got to hand it to Mac Miller too, the kid is doin' good and is one of the next in the world. He's not a wordsmith, but the youngin' got bars on some tracks.

What do you think!?
