OLD vs NEW #2:
Yes, second round of my new column. I'm gonna keep feedin' you with classics and remakes, and today is no different. Souls Of Mischief, a legendary group who is part of the Hieroglyphics-collective from Oakland is our oldschool contender today. I picked one of the most classic hip-hop songs, from a classic album with the same name, ''93 'til infinity''. Every hip-hophead should know about this track. Let me rephrase that, every human-being who is in to music in general should know about this one. The track went straight to the Billboard US RAP top 100 list, landing in a respectable 11th place. The newschool contender is a new big shot from Mississipi down south, Big K.R.I.T. I discovered KRIT early winter in 2010, and he's three latest mixtapes has impressed me. He brings that Big Boi/Bun B flavour, but he got his own style. He was one of the 11 rappers on the frontcover of XXL's 2011 Freshmen.

Conclusion:
This one is alot harder for me than last week's VS. Of course I heard 93 'til infinity years before Krizzle's version. 93 got a own ''feel'' to it, and A-Plus, Opio, Phesto and Tajai got that laidback 90's Cali flow. While the lyrical content is not so impressive, the way they collaborate and fit together on this track is very impressive. And the track describes what much of the 90's hip-hop was all about, having fun. They also got a distinctive sound and approach to the beat, which you really don't see these days. The beat is produced by A-Plus too. So, over to Young Krizzle. This is probably the best remake of this track. He spits as real as it gets on this one, and the theme of the song is briliant. He describes some events in his life, some bad days and just ordinary things we all go through. This is a track I suppose everybody can relate to, no matter what color or race you are. In my opinion it's one of KRIT's best tracks, it's from Jonnyshipes mixtape ''GoodTalk vol. 9''. It's hard to declare a winner, but at the end I got to give it to Souls Of Mischief. It's one of the most influential hip-hop tracks, and it brings out that good feeling. I can listen to it over and over again, and that's the definition of a hip-hop classic. But, you got to give it up for Big K.R.I.T. It's the best remake-attempt of 93 'til in my book, and the lyrical content is smart and well-composed. Be on the lookout for his debutalbum, and check out his previous mixtapes. I recommend you to check out Souls of Mischief's discography aswell, it's hip-hop history ya'll. Peace.
BONUS:
This one is just great, Kidz In The Hall has used the 93 'til song as sample. The lyrics are great, and the beat sounds real clean. Check it out as well:
